The Wall – Closing Ceremony

“The Wall” installation came to a close today. To bring a sense of closure, the notes were taken out of the hexagon holes and buried. Our campus was long ago a peach orchard and so we buried the notes at the foot of one of the few remaining peach trees on the hill behind the school. I took direct inspiration for this process from the Wailing Wall as they collect and bury their notes twice a year on the Mount of Olives. I was joined by our Chaplain Mike Moffitt, a couple of students, teachers, and staff members who all pitched in to help shovel some dirt. Chaplain Mike also spoke a few words of blessing.

Almost two hundred notes were left at the wall. It was an amazing ending to a project that had far more life and value than I expected!
