Here is the first half of this illustration printed twice with minor changes. Can you tell which came first?
My printmaking class has just finished their first dry point etching project and I wanted to push them into using their new intaglio skills in a book. Inspired by the work of Judith Hoffman, particularly her book 7 Extinction Events, I plan on asking my students to create a one-sheet intaglio printed book inside of a toy that explores the theme of “inside.”
These images are of my 4th prototype in trying to combine a toy with a book and I think I finally got it to work!
Here are a few student created thaumatropes from my Printmaking Class. They were challenged to illustrate an idiom using the format of a thaumatrope. It was also their first experience creating a reductive color relief print. Can you guess the idiom?
